In Brief

I’ve always liked Tarantino films. The style, the irreverence, the speech: these are a few of my favorite things. Django Unchained largely lives up to my expectations of a fun romp through one of Quentin’s alternate worlds, but it falls marginally short on substance. The story is fun and action-packed and the characters, especially Dr. King Schultz played brilliantly by Cristoph Waltz, are very memorable. But the script development lacks some of the originality and intrigue of Tarantino’s earlier work. Yet, I still found this to be an extremely entertaining movie but not nearly on par with the greats of his personal genre he’s created.
